Christine Keyser Stenning: President of the League of Women Voters Newport County In-Person

Join the American Association of University Women as they host Christine Keyser Stenning, President of the League of Women Voters Newport County (LWVNC). This event is sponsored by the AAUW Newport County/East Bay.

Stenning will discuss the League's nonpartisan history that dates back to the suffrage movement and the ratification of the 19th amendment, as well as their work in fighting voter suppression, expanding voter rights, and passing pro-voter laws. The LWVNC is presently adopting a laser approach to voting rights and voter registration, as well as voter education and civic engagement for the midterm elections. The League is also focused on holding forums for those running for an elected office in all of Rhode Island. Stenner will also discuss how people in the community can get involved.

This event was originally scheduled for Monday, March 16th.

Appointed in 2022, Stenning has a diverse background in education, teaching U.S. and World History. She was also a consultant for the College Board, where she reviewed questions for the SAT and ACT.
